2 Logical reasons why Low-calorie chicken Quality diets Are broken ...

Are you planning to follow a low-calorie chicken diet plan in order to slim down fat! Before you decide to do that, look at this post to discover why low-calorie chicken diet plans fail. Phallosan.

I cannot let you know the number of folks have e-mailed me personally stating that these people adopted certain well-liked low-calorie chicken diet plans for some months only to find out they have not lost much fat. Therefore they believed that weight-loss is not possible and for that reason, these people give up the diet plan system completely. visit now.

The top reason low-calorie diet plans fail is: to eat low-calorie meals, the body basically continues to be malnourished. You?re feeling sick and tired all the time. Ignore exercises, there isn?t enough power to finish also your regular activities. Every one of these the unexpected happens as your metabolism is reduced!

If you wish to slim down successfully, you should retain these two things at heart:

1. Calories from fat aren?t your foes: Calories from fat aren?t what you should avoid; calories have to supply the body with all the essential nutrition as well as. As soon as your body receives enough foods, it is going to increase your metabolism, that will instantly result in weight-loss. http://myproductjournal.com/phallosan-reviews.php.

Unhealthy calories are those that are available inside junk foods. So when you is not going to accumulate fat to eat 10 celery each day (even though a single the apple company contains almost A hundred calories), you will for sure obtain fat to eat 10 hamburgers!

That is the simple variation! You have to avoid vacant calories (that is, junk foods) as well as embrace unfavorable calorie meals, including fruit and veggies. Now unfavorable calorie doesn?t mean that there?s absolutely no calorie during these meals; that just implies that in order to digest themselves, these foods will force the body to burn much more calories than they provide! This kind of brings about calorie deficit that will eventually result in weight-loss!

2. Muscle development is essential: Do you know that in order to preserve themselves, muscles burn up lots of your calories? This kind of in effect implies that the greater lean muscles you?ve got, the particular quicker you will be able to lose weight naturally! Consuming protein-rich meals is a great method of building lean muscles; training on a regular basis in the gym is another. There is another however good thing about consuming protein-rich meals: you won?t feel hungry all too often; therefore, the potential of overindulging is almost non-existent.

By consuming low-calorie meals, you?re not able to develop muscles; instead an individual LOSE muscles. As soon as your body doesn?t always have enough lean muscles, it is not able to burn off fat since your metabolism continues to be with an extraordinarily low-level. To ensure that is one much more reason low-calorie chicken diet programs fail!

Most of these low-calorie chicken diet programs is only going to assist you to drop drinking water as well as muscles; when you possibly misled directly into assuming that you?ve in fact lost several dozens of kilos, you?ve not lost the one most significant factor that is retaining you from becoming slender: which is FAT! Until you lose weight, no one is able you can become fit!

Lenovo IdeaPad U310

The Lenovo IdeaPad U310 ($799.99 direct) updates Lenovo's consumer ultrabook line with Intel's third-generation processors and a splash of color. Lenovo has a well-earned reputation for quality products?and sometimes premium pricing?but the IdeaPad U310 offers a solid ultrabook for less than its pricey competitors.

Design
You'd be forgiven for mistaking the IdeaPad U310 for the Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch (Mid 2012) ($1,499 direct, 4 stars). There's a striking resemblance between the two, with bare metal aluminum and black square tile keys. Lenovo does add some color with an anodized lid, available in graphite grey, aqua blue, or cherry blossom pink. The 13.3-inch display offers 1,366-by-768 resolution, which is standard for 13-inch ultrabooks, though you will see a few with higher resolutions, like the Dell XPS 14 (Summer 2012) ($1,499 direct, 3.5 stars) and Apple MacBook Air 13-inch (Mid 2012) ($1,199 direct, 4 stars). Measuring 0.7 by 13.1 by 8.8 inches (HWD) and weighing 3.75 pounds, the IdeaPad U310 is actually smaller and lighter than the MacBook Pro, but the similarities are still pretty glaring.

The keyboard?Lenovo's AccuType?is very good, and though the shallow travel of the keys is similar to other ultrabooks, the overall feel is smoother. The only problem I had with the keyboard was a bit of flexing as I typed, but that's nothing unusual in the ultrabook category. The glass-surfaced clickpad is smooth and touchable, and, more importantly, accurate, with none of the false positive troubles seen with other clickpads.

I tested the audio with some streaming music (the Japandroids album Celebration Rock) and found the speakers to be clear, but quiet. You won't get much bass out of these speakers, and at low volumes you'll occasionally find it too quiet to hear. For better sound, try the HP Envy 4-1043cl ($1,034.99 direct, 4 stars), which offers Beats Audio and an integrated subwoofer.

Features
The IdeaPad U310 is outfitted with an Ethernet port, full size HDMI output, two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0 port, a combination headphone and microphone jack, and an built-in card reader (SD, MMC). A webcam above the display captures 720p video for Skype and video conferencing, plus VeriFace facial-recognition, which lets you log on with just a glance. Internally, the IdeaPad U310 is also equipped with 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, and Intel's Wireless Display technology (WiDi 2.0), which lets you stream HD video through an adapter, like the Netgear Push2TV ($99 list).

Lenovo packs the IdeaPad U310 with both a 500GB, 5400rpm hard drive for storage space, and a 32GB solid-state cache to provide the zippiness needed for the near-instant start and wake times of RapidBoot and speedy performance. While you'll find a few programs preinstalled on the U310, like Absolute Reminder, Google Chrome, Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office 2010, Oovoo messenger, and McAfee Emerald AntiVirus, you'll also get several useful add-ons from Lenovo, like One-Key Rescue for easy system recovery, and Lenovo Enhanced Experience boot optimizer. Lenovo also covers the IdeaPad U310 with a one-year warranty, but warranty upgrades are available.

Performance
Lenovo IdeaPad U310 With a third-generation Intel Core i5-3317U (1.7GHz) processor?the same dual-core processor seen in the HP Envy 4-1043cl?and 4GB of RAM, the IdeaPad U310 easily bested the PCMark 7 scores of several top performing ultrabooks that utilized older Core i5 and Core i7 processors. The IdeaPad U310 scored 3,570 points, beating both the Editors' Choice HP Folio 13-1020us ($899.99 list, 4 stars) (3,150 points) and the Core i7-equipped Lenovo IdeaPad U300s ($1,495 list, 4 stars) (3,394 points). In Cinebench R11.5, the IdeaPad U310 scored 2.39 points, only beaten by the Dell XPS 14 (Summer 2012), which scored 2.79 points with a third-generation Core i7.

Lenovo IdeaPad U310

The IdeaPad U310 also performed well in Handbrake and Photoshop CS5, our multimedia benchmark tests. In Handbrake, the IdeaPad U310 completed transcoding our test video file in 2 minutes 3 seconds, faster than both the HP Folio 13-1020us (2:29) and the U300s (2:39), but behind the HP Envy 4-1043cl (1:59) and the Dell XPS 14 (1:48). The IdeaPad U310 completed our Photoshop CS5 test in 4 minutes 40 seconds, but still fell behind competitors?the Dell XPS 14 (4:05), Lenovo U300s (4:25), and HP Envy 4-1043cl (4:34) all had slightly faster times. Regardless, you'll find that for light video and photo editing, the Lenovo IdeaPad U310 still provides pretty quick performance.

The Lenovo IdeaPad U310 takes advantage of Intel's integrated graphics solution (Intel HD Graphics 4000) to do all of the heavy lifting when rendering images and video. In 3DMark 2006, the IdeaPad U310 scored 4,978 points at 1,024 by 768 resolution with anti-aliasing turned off. With resolution bumped up to the native 1,366 by 768 and 4x anti-aliasing, the Lenovo IdeaPad U310 scored 2,672 points. The only comparable systems with better graphics scores were the HP Envy 4-1043cl (5,942 points at 1,024-by-768, 3,299 points at native and 4x anti-aliasing), which got better results by pairing the same processor with more RAM, and the Dell XPS 14 (3,720 medium, 1,911 high) with a discrete Nvidia GPU. Intel's integrated graphics don't have the horsepower for gaming?in both Crysis and Lost Planet 2 the IdeaPad U310 produced less than playable scores, even with the resolution and detail settings dialed down.

With a 3-cell, 46Wh battery sealed in the chassis, the Lenovo IdeaPad U310 lasted 6 hours 44 minutes in Mobile Mark. While competitors stretch battery life to nearly 10 hours (Dell XPS 14 9:37), the Lenovo U310 still provides enough battery life to get you through the day.

In the past, Lenovo's ultrabook offerings were designed to compete on quality rather than price, but the IdeaPad U310 brings all of the quality without the inflated price tag, offering a solid ultrabook competitor for hundreds of dollars less than premium competitors, like the $1,499 Dell XPS 14 (Summer 2012). While the HP Folio 13-1020us holds on as the current Editors' Choice for ultrabooks for its lighter weight and longer battery life, the Lenovo IdeaPad U310 holds its own as a smart alternative.

In a study published online in Genome Research, researchers have for the first time shown that the environment experienced in the womb defines the newborn epigenetic profile, the chemical modifications to DNA we are born with, that could have implications for disease risk later in life.

Epigenetic tagging of genes by a chemical modification called DNA methylation is known to affect gene activity, playing a role in normal development, aging, and also in diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Studies conducted in animals have shown that the environment shapes the epigenetic profile across the genome, called the epigenome, particularly in the womb. An understanding of how the intrauterine environment molds the human epigenome could provide critical information about disease risk to help manage health throughout life.

Twin pairs, both monozygotic (identical) and dizygotic (fraternal), are ideal for epigenetic study because they share the same mother but have their own umbilical cord and amniotic sac, and in the case of identical twins, also share the same genetic make-up. Previous studies have shown that methylation can vary significantly at a single gene across multiple tissues of identical twins, but it is important to know what the DNA methylation landscape looks like across the genome.

In this report, an international team of researchers has for the first time analyzed genome-scale DNA methylation profiles of umbilical cord tissue, cord blood, and placenta of newborn identical and fraternal twin pairs to estimate how genes, the shared environment that their mother provides and the potentially different intrauterine environments experienced by each twin contribute to the epigenome. The group found that even in identical twins, there are widespread differences in the epigenetic profile of twins at birth.

"This must be due to events that happened to one twin and not the other," said Dr. Jeffrey Craig of the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) in Australia and a senior author of the report. Craig added that although twins share a womb, the influence of specific tissues like the placenta and umbilical cord can be different for each fetus, and likely affects the epigenetic profile.

Interestingly, the team found that methylated genes closely associated with birth weight in their cohort are genes known to play roles in growth, metabolism, and cardiovascular disease, lending further support to a known link between low birth weight and risk for diseases such as diabetes and heart disease. The authors explained that their findings suggest the unique environmental experiences in the womb may have a more profound effect on epigenetic factors that influence health throughout life than previously thought.

Furthermore, an understanding of the epigenetic profile at birth could be a particularly powerful tool for managing future health. "This has potential to identify and track disease risk early in life, said Dr. Richard Saffery of the MCRI and a co-senior author of the study, "or even to modify risk through specific environmental or dietary interventions."

(AP) ? The Wisconsin Supreme Court is scheduled to rule Wednesday in a case in which a small town with three times as many cows as people is seeking greater authority to protect its water supply.

Communities throughout the rural Midwest have been keeping an eye on the lawsuit as they struggle to deal with the expansion of so-called factory farms. States throughout the farm belt have seen big farms get bigger as the agriculture industry continues to consolidate.

The Wisconsin lawsuit was filed by Magnolia, a town of 1,000 residents seeking to force a big livestock farm to meet tougher water quality standards than the state requires. Similar cases have been filed in six other Midwestern states, but this is believed to be the first to reach a state supreme court.

The lawsuit revolves around a 2004 state law establishing standards that local governments must follow when they grant permits for new and expanding livestock operations. The intent was to make farm regulations consistent across the state.

Larson Acres Inc. applied for a permit in 2006 to expand its operation in Magnolia, which is about 30 miles south of the state capital of Madison. At the time, the farm had 1,000 cows. It now has 2,900.

The town's experts tested water near the farm and found elevated nitrate levels, which they considered evidence of pollution from manure produced by the cows. So the town granted Larson Acre's permit to expand, but with additional conditions. For example, the farm had to allow the town to conduct monthly water quality tests on its land, and it had to follow certain crop-rotation strategies to reduce nitrate buildup.

Farm officials appealed to a board run by the state's agriculture department, arguing the town was exceeding its authority. Larson Acres claims the 2004 law prevents the town from imposing conditions that aren't required by the state.

The case pingponged through the courts for five years, and in the most recent ruling, an appeals court backed the farm. The town then appealed to the state Supreme Court.

At a hearing in September, Larson Acres attorney Eric McLeod told the justices that a town could introduce its own water quality regulations, just not as part of the permit-granting process. For example, Magnolia could monitor drinking water for nitrates and then sue the farm if pollution levels rose above certain limits, he said.

But Dela Ends, an organic farmer who lives a few miles from Larson Acres, called that logic ridiculous. She said it makes more sense to impose regulations from the beginning, than to wait for a water supply to be polluted and then seek remedies.

Similar cases have been filed in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio and Oklahoma. Two juries in Missouri have handed out multimillion-dollar awards to homeowners who complained of intolerable odors from so-called factory farms.

Myanmar plans to open doors to foreign telcos for affordable cellular, internet service

Hefty price tags haven't exactly made cellphones ubiquitous in cash-strapped Myanmar. According to AFP, an estimated 96 percent of the nation's 60 million inhabitants don't own a mobile handset, but that might soon be changing. A new reform plan announced by Myanmar's Post and Telecommunication Minister, Thein Tun, lays out a strategy that could finally give said folks a crack at affordable cellular and internet services. If successful, the initiative will start a bidding process for international telcos to set up shop in the country, allowing the companies to partner with the state-owned telephone provider and the ISP Yatanarpon Teleport. There's no word on when the partnerships may coalesce, but here's to hoping that $200 SIM card registration fees in Myanmar soon become a thing of the past. Full details at the source link below.

(AP) ? Na Yeon Choi was disappointed that her parents weren't there on Sunday to celebrate her U.S. Women's Open victory.

But having her parents home in South Korea instead of in the gallery at Blackwolf Run might be one of the reasons why Choi has matured into a player with the poise to survive a potential meltdown on the back nine and hold on to win her first career major.

When Choi joined the LPGA Tour in 2008, her parents came along to help her adjust to life in a new country. In 2009, Choi decided she needed to be on her own to mature ? so she sent them home.

"I told my parents I want to be more independent: 'I want you guys to go back to Korea and go there and relax and support me from there,'" Choi said. "And then that moment actually they were mad, and my mom was crying, because they did very hard working for me up to now. But I said I think I need to be more independent. I can learn something from independence."

Just a few weeks after they left, she won her first LPGA tournament.

"My mom and dad called me, like, 'I knew you could do it,'" she said. "So look mom and dad, I really learned a lot of things from independence. I know what I have to do. I still practice hard and (am) working hard."

Choi had a flight booked back home Monday and couldn't wait to see her father, Byeong Ho Choi, and her mother, Jeong Me Song.

"Actually, I feel really sorry for them, because they are not here right now," Choi said. "But I'm pretty sure they were watching on TV and they couldn't sleep last night, and they supported me a lot. I really appreciate what they did."

It's the first major and sixth career LPGA Tour victory for the 24-year-old South Korean star, who came into the tournament ranked fifth in the world.

Choi shot 73 on Sunday and finished at 7 under. Amy Yang, also from South Korea, had a 71 to finish second.

Choi's victory comes at the same course where Se Ri Pak won the Open in 1998, a victory that inspired Choi and many other young South Koreans to try to make it on the women's tour.

"And 14 years later I'm here right now, and I made it," Choi said. "My dreams come true. It's an amazing day today, and like I really appreciate what Se Ri did and all the Korean players, they did. It's really no way I can be here without them."

Pak was among a group of friends who met Choi after she putted out on the 18th green, showering her with hugs ? and victory champagne.

"She (said), 'Hey, Na Yeon, I'm really proud of you. You did a really good job, and you (were) really calm out there,'" Choi said. "She talked to me a lot, and she was hugging me."

Choi is the fourth South Korean to win the event in the five years, following Inbee Park (2008), Eun-Hee Ji (2009) and So Yeon Ryu (2011).

Choi now plans to attend the London Olympics later this month. And she hopes to represent her country in 2016.

"That is my biggest goal right now," she said. "I mean, I can be like No. 1 in the world or Player of the Year, but my biggest dream is playing Olympic 2016 and I want to get some medal from there. That's why I want to go to (the Olympics) this year and see what's the feeling."

Choi was feeling nervous earlier in the day, when what looked like an easy victory started to unravel.

It started on the par-5 10th hole, when she put her tee shot way left into woods and deep rough. Choi was 8 under at that point ? five strokes ahead of Yang.

After a long delay for a fruitless search for her ball, she went back to the 10th tee with a penalty. Choi wound up with a triple-bogey 8 and appeared to be on the verge of coming undone. Yang made a par on 10, cutting Choi's lead to 2 strokes.

Choi birdied No. 11 but got in trouble again on No. 12, putting her approach shot in the long rough short of the green. She managed to chip out and hit the green, then rolled in a putt of about 20 feet to save par ? and, perhaps, her Open title.

Choi then came within inches of putting her tee shot in the water on No. 13, but her ball bounced to safety ? appearing to skip twice off of a wall that lined the water hazard ? and she made another par.

She then made birdies on No. 15 and 16.

After taking the lead with a 65 on Saturday, Choi talked about how Pak's dramatic 1998 victory was one of the main things that inspired her to success in golf. Choi recalled watching that tournament on television and remembered how it changed her goals, helping her dream of something bigger.

Pak is happy to hear that her victory in 1998 inspired so many people in her country.

"They were watching TV back then, and they didn't know what's going on in golf," Pak said. "And after I won the U.S. Open, they're watching this moment here, and they know what is golf and they think of their dreams."

Create an Amazing Cover for Presentation for Furniture Business ...

People attending a meeting

Creating a professional cover is not as expensive as you might think.

A presentation folder makes your furniture business look professional and shows that you put thought into the materials used during your meeting. The cover of your presentation folder is the first impression those at the meeting have of your business, so taking the time to create a custom cover can highlight your professional image and show that you?re able to meet the needs of the businesses or customers to which you are presenting information.

  • Contact local printers to find out how much they charge to print presentation folders with your own design on the front. Find out if they have worked with furniture companies in the past and know the unique needs of your presentation, such as featuring a photograph of your furniture or creating an embossed, or slightly raised, silhouette of a couch, table or chair to add texture and dimension.
  • Set a budget for the project. The cost of a full-color cover will be more than a cover design that is black and white or a single color. If your budget allows, a full-color cover can allow you to present a photograph of some of your presentation folders in the background of the design. If you cannot afford full color, use drawings in a single color or a photograph in black and white.
  • Create the images you will use in the design. Since furniture can be difficult to photograph in a showroom, talk to a professional photographer about which pieces of furniture will photograph best and if you should transport them to the photographer?s studio or she can take the pictures in your showroom. If using a sketch, hire a professional artist or graphic designer, explain your concept and the colors you prefer to use.
  • Write the text you?d like to see on the front of the folder. Think about the message your furniture conveys and the best way you can add that to the text. For example, if your furniture is known for its durability, you can tie that into your title or add your company motto or tag line to remind those receiving the folder about this aspect of your company.
  • Pick out a font that stands out from the image without overpowering it. To maintain a professional look, avoid cutesy fonts with clip-art furniture graphics. If you have a company logo, place it in one of the corners. With art production software, you can add graphic highlights such as a banner background or font treatments to the headline. If you need to set off some text, such as the company tag line, then use plain colored boxes and set the text inside them.

Photographs of furniture should have clean crisp lines with plenty of blank space near the top of the page. This will give you a space to include the presentation title in that spot. Take pictures of small groupings of furniture in front of a tall, blank wall of any solid color.

Flying the F-35 Is So Easy That It Feels Like Magic [Airplanes]

Some of its pilots claim that the F-35 Lightning II is so easy to fly that it feels "like magic." Reading their words, I thought they were talking about a video game instead of one of the most advanced war machines ever created. More »

Scorching heat, dry conditions stifle July 4 celebrations

(Reuters) - Fourth of July revelers will be met by another day of scorching temperatures on Wednesday, prompting many U.S. communities to cancel annual fireworks celebrations amid fears of heat-related dangers.

Scores of towns and cities in the U.S. West are reeling from wildfires that have claimed lives, charred hundreds of homes and displaced tens of thousands of people, while others in the Midwest and East swelter under brutal and deadly heat.

In places from Montana to Tennessee, communities have canceled or restricted fireworks celebrations. Others have banned pyrotechnics or advised residents to exercise caution with everything from sparklers to barbecue grills because of the soaring temperatures and dry conditions.

"All it would take is one spark from a shell to get away, and it could go everywhere," said Bruce Jones, the mayor of Douglas, Wyoming, where the annual fireworks display has been called off for the first time in memory. "It's the better part of valor not to do it."

One of the biggest U.S. fireworks parties, held on Washington's National Mall, will go ahead on Wednesday as planned, a National Park Service spokeswoman said.

Meanwhile, from Illinois to Virginia residents were still recovering from last weekend's rare "derecho," a powerful and long-lasting straight-line wind storm that tore across the country from the Midwest to the Atlantic Ocean.

The violent storms and days of record heat have killed at least 23 people in the United States and left millions of people without power since Friday. Utilities warned that power may not be restored for the rest of the week, though fewer than 1.1 million homes and businesses remained without electricity.

In the District of Columbia, some 13,000 customers of local power company Pepco were still without power on Tuesday night, and the city was distributing food to people unable to cook at home.

"Frankly, the people are just fed up with it. I don't have any power in my own home," Washington Mayor Vincent Gray told CNN.

A line of strong thunderstorms moved across the Washington region late on Tuesday bringing severe lightning and heavy rain. Winds of up to 50 miles per hour (80 km/hr) raked trees and wires left fragile by Friday's storm and police evacuated the grounds of the Capitol where rehearsals were under way for Wednesday's concert and fireworks.

The National Weather Service forecast temperatures from 90 degree Fahrenheit (32 Celsius) to more than 100 F (37.7 C) from the Plains to the Atlantic Coast.

The upper Midwest could see more severe thunderstorms like the one that ripped down trees and power lines in northern Minnesota on Monday, it said.

A BUSY FIRE SEASON

Wildfires that have scorched nearly 2.2 million acres so far this year also remained a risk, with hot, dry and windy conditions triggering an early and destructive Rocky Mountain fire season.

In Colorado, still reeling from deadly wildfires that have destroyed more than 600 homes, Governor John Hickenlooper banned the private use of fireworks as areas from Denver's suburbs to remote mountain resorts canceled public displays.

"It feels like the pendulum is swinging and we're getting back into a busy fire cycle," said Kent Frederick, spokesman for the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise.

In the aftermath of New Mexico's largest wildfire on record - a blaze that raged across 300,000 acres in the Gila Wilderness - Governor Susana Martinez renewed calls for passage of a law allowing the governor and local governments to ban fireworks amid stepped-up fire dangers.

"It's a very passionate issue," said Dan Ware, spokesman with the New Mexico Forestry Division. "You've got a lot of the business aspects of it as well as the personal rights aspect."

Many cities in Arizona, where crews were still battling 11 wildfires consuming nearly 58,000 acres, have banned the use of fireworks. That includes the southern Arizona community of Sierra Vista, where a blaze last year torched homes, killed livestock and charred thousands of acres.

Just four states ban the public sale of all fireworks. The industry has experienced growth in recent years of sales to consumers of pyrotechnics that are safer than ever, said Julie Heckman, executive director of the American Pyrotechnics Association.

Fireworks caused 15,500 blazes, resulting in eight deaths and $36 million in property damage, in 2010, according to the National Fire Protection Association.

While fireworks are broadly banned in national forests and parks, federal and state land managers in parts of Idaho, Montana and Wyoming - including Yellowstone National Park - have temporarily banned certain open fires at the height of camping season.

In the southeastern Idaho community of Soda Springs, officials canceled Fourth of July fireworks after a wildfire last week destroyed 95 structures, 66 of them homes, in nearby Pocatello.

"We just felt like it wasn't worth taking the risk," said Randy Johnson, treasurer of the local Rotary club which sponsored the event.

Bobby Womack makes his return with 'Bravest Man'

(AP) ? Bobby Womack has been frustrated.

He's relaunching his career after what amounts to a two-decade, self-imposed exile and he can't get his doctor to cooperate. There's so much to do, Womack says in a gravelly voice, which has aged like the most expensive single-malt whiskey. Yet his doctor has ordered him to shut down for nearly two weeks ? an eternity for a restless man seeking a rare second act at age 68.

"Can I tell you the honest truth? I've been through a lot, more than I've ever been through in my life, in the last two months," Womack says in a telephone interview from his Los Angeles home. "You know, I had prostate cancer, then they got rid of that and discovered I had colon cancer. Then after that my lungs completely shut down and they had to put me on a machine and I was out in a coma for 10 days. Then after that I had walking pneumonia ? twice. So there's only so much the body can take. I want to go back to work, but the doctor says, 'Man, you've got to rest 10 days and not do NOTHING.' He said, 'Because we done lost you,' and he said, 'It's a miracle you're walking around.'"

And Womack can't disagree, especially when you take the long view.

A gospel and soul singer, a songwriter and a guitar player with few peers, Womack is largely a forgotten figure today ? but one who is getting a close re-examination. His new album, "The Bravest Man in the Universe," was produced by Damon Albarn, and Womack has ambitious plans for a tour later this year ? if his body and doctor cooperate.

His return is a welcome development for those who recognize his deep contributions to modern music ? as Sam Cooke's guitarist, the writer of the Rolling Stones' first hit and someone who scored many of his own during his solo career. Some worried Womack might not have the same vitality that made him one of the most inspiring and imitated artists of his generation. And even Womack wondered sometimes. He admits to having seizures during his tour with Albarn's Gorillaz several years ago and his health problems loomed large.

"Yet as so often is the case with Bobby," said Mark Rowland, executive producer of the "Unsung" series, "he gets counted out over and over in different ways throughout his career, and yet he keeps coming back."

The "Unsung" episode that aired in January on TV One featuring Womack was among the most watched and commented upon in the series.

"There's so much to say about his music and there's so much to say about his life," Rowland said. "He's had a life that's really even more dramatic than some of the more dramatic aspects of the songs he's written."

Womack hopes for a little drama in the next chapter of his career and calls "Bravest Man" ''a fresh start." It's his first collection of original material in 18 years ? since he quit the life to save his life. He gave up music because he was addicted to drugs and alcohol. Drugs and music. Music and drugs. The two were so intrinsically entwined, he felt the only way to really quit one was to give up the other.

He released a few albums of others' material during this hiatus, but it wasn't until Albarn tapped him for his Gorillaz side project that Womack caught the fever again. The way he sees it, he's carrying the torch for all those friends who fell victim to the lifestyle or were forgotten by time.

"I've got to represent some of the greatest soul singers that ever walked in life. I still feel that they don't get their propers for what really happened," he said. "Since I've outlived 90 percent of those people, I said, 'Let me make a statement.'"

"The Bravest Man in the Universe" is a broadside at soul traditionalists looking for a recreation of something Womack might have dropped in the 1960s or '70s at the height of his influence. Programmed beats and electronic sounds skitter behind Womack's voice and a smattering of traditional instruments, including piano and Womack's guitar.

Richard Russell, Albarn's co-producer on "Bravest Man," thinks their work fits right into the spirit of Womack's career. He calls it "organic and earthy."

"I didn't see what we were doing being in any way any type of radical departure from what he's ever done before, and I've been quite surprised at some of the feedback to it which has suggested that it is that," Russell said in a phone interview from London. "Bobby's always made rhythmic records that have always been modern at the point he's been doing them, right? Bobby's never made retro records and there's no reason why he should now."

Womack entered the 2011 recording sessions for the album with an open mind and knew they'd be using programmed beats. But he admitted the recording style employed by Albarn, the Blur frontman, and Russell, the XL Recordings owner, took some getting used to.

The trio sat down together in the round, joined by Womack's writing partner Harold Payne, and hammered out arrangements as they went. Womack worried they were moving too quickly, but says he loved the final product.

"As loooong as the most dominant thing is there and that's your vocals and your lyrics ? that's your story ? that's all that matters," Womack said. "Ain't nobody going to be listening to who programmed the drums or who did the piano. They don't care. They're just listening to the basic song itself. And when you hear me sing, even if you've only heard me sing once, you know my voice."
