Oh, the places you'll go... with this shoulder-mounted telepresence robot (video)

Image

In what's likely to be good news for mothers that just can't seem to cut the cord, a team of Japanese engineers from Yamagata University have crafted a tiny telepresence robot that mounts to your shoulder. Part of this year's IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, the unsettling cyborg companion, dubbed MH-2 for miniature humanoid, is designed to act like a virtual chaperon or comrade, all depending on the person remotely piloting it. Using a combination of flexible joints, the wee avatar can somewhat mimic its users movements, even going so far as to simulate breathing. At the moment, the tech's not really ready for primetime, seeing as how the backpack required to power this creation contains about 22 servos -- not exactly the most portable of inventions. Still, as with all things cybernetic, this project will only evolve in time, growing more efficient, lightweight and effective at transporting your family and friends wherever you may roam, whether you like it or not. Skip past the break for some en vivo video action.

Healthy Tips for Picnic Celebrations ? Habits of Health

05 26 Healthy Tips for Picnic Celebrations

Posted in Lori's Weekly Notes

Holidays such as Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, or any picnic holiday can cause break downs in our otherwise healthy eating plan.? It is extremely important to be very aware that picnics can pack literally thousands of calories that we would not normally indulge in.? So, what should you do?

1.? Continue to practice your healthy eating habits on the picnic day.? Do not skip meals or save calories for the ?big meal?.? That sets you up to overeat!!!

2. If going to a party or picnic, offer to bring an appetizer and side dish.? That way you can guarantee there will be healthy choices for you.

3. Be watchful of your portions and choose NOT to have the desert!! Instead, maybe bring a box of sugar free popcycles to share with the crowd or have a cup of coffee instead!.

4. Make sure that you do not slack off from your daily exercise routine the day of the picnic. ?Try adding 10 or 15-minute brisk walks twice that day with available family members or the partygoers. Plan active activities such as crochet, bike riding, or taking a hike instead of sitting around and talking or watching TV.

5. If you are throwing the party, have lots of vegetables available, and instead of chips, choose a low carb low sugar variety of snack such as Medifast Puffs or Pretzels. Prepare lower fat dips and offer salsa. Explain to your guests in advance you?re?determination to make this a healthier holiday celebration, and ask them to keep this in mind when preparing any dish they may be bringing.

6. Stay away from high calorie beverages such as sodas, juices, smoothies, and blended coffee drinks. There are nearly 150 calories in one 12-ounce can of soda or juice. Smoothies and coffee drinks are often 250-500 calories, excluding the whipped cream. Alcohol is packed full of calories and carbs. It can also cause you to let down your defenses and overeat or make poor food choices. All of these indulgences will set you back

7 I suggest to have a low glycemic protein snack before going to the cookout such as a Protein Bar or Shake. Medifast is a great low calorie, low glycemic protein meal replacement which I prefer over other meal replacements.

8. At the picnic choose healthy foods and stay away from the chips and bread and High glycemic foods such as corn.

9. If the cookout is at your house, send some of the left-overs home with your guests, especially the desserts!!

10. Remember to eat slowly, which will help you to eat less and feel full and satisfied.

11. Habits are habit forming? People form habits but habits transform people! Let?s Take Shape for Life! Let?s transform our thinking to become choosy about what we eat. Let?s make it a habit to select healthy foods and plan to integrate Medifast foods as part of our ?prescription for life?!

Have a Happy and Healthy Picnic!!!!

The Longform Guide to Space

?To truly grasp the challenge of building a space shuttle, think about its flight. The ship includes a 60-by-15-foot open space, narrow wings, and a large cabin where men must be provided that delicately slender range of temperatures and pressures they can endure. During ascent, the shuttle must withstand 3 Gs of stress--inertial drag equivalent to three times its own weight. While all five engines are screaming, there will be acoustic vibrations reaching 167 decibels, enough to kill an unprotected person. In orbit, the shuttle will drift through -250?F. vacuum, what engineers call the ?cold soak.? It's cold enough to embrittle and shatter most materials. During reentry, the ship's skin goes from cold soak to 2,700?F., hot enough to transform many metals into Silly Putty. Then the shuttle must glide along, under control, at speeds up to Mach 25, three times faster than any other piloted aircraft has ever flown. After reentry, it cascades through the air without power; finally thunking down onto the runway at 220 m.p.h. The like-sized DC-9 lands, with power, at 130 m.p.h. Rockets are throwaway contraptions in part so that no one piece ever has to endure such a wild variety of conditions. The shuttle's design goal is to take this nightmare ride 100 times.?

LastPass Premium Password Manager (for Android)

It's hard to believe something as utilitarian as a password manager has its diehard fans, but LastPass, our Editors' Choice winner for both free and premium ($1/month, direct) password managers, enjoys something of a cult following. Converts like myself swear by this tool?a Web service that securely stores passwords and login information, and automatically fills them in for you as you browse online.

LastPass Password Manager Premium (for Android) is only available to Premium subscribers, and lets you access your vault of saved logins and other login data on the go. It works with a built in browser based on the stock Android browser. However, the app is pretty unintuitive?if this app is your only incentive to upgrade to Premium, you'll want to reconsider. You can also give it a test drive for 14 days.

Getting Started
As a LastPass n00b, I had a rather difficult time getting started. When I first opened the app I saw a plain white page with an input box and the word "search" at the top. It turns out the search box was for searching saved logins and forms, but this assumes you've already set up LastPass. I found this odd?usually an app has a wizard or at least a step-by-step manual, especially for a relatively unintuitive service.

Finally I took the advice of a LastPass spokesperson and logged into my LastPass account through my desktop browser to get things started. Because this is a cloud-based service, LastPass quickly syncs your account information across both platforms.

LastPass centers on your Vault?a list of saved logins, notes, and other login details. You can add new information any time by filling in templates (called "Form Fill" profiles) and organize them into folders like you would with bookmarks.

The app does include some gems from the desktop-based service. Secure Notes lets you securely store alphanumeric notes?like a Social Security Number?and access them later through your Vault interface. You can enter templates with common login information, like your name and address and auto-complete this information when you encounter such a template. You'll also find a password generator that creates strong passwords for new online accounts.

A neat, mobile-only feature is the ability to use LastPass to log into your apps. Simply tap an input field to open the virtual keyboard, and then tap the LastPass icon (an asterisk). This auto-fills data for you.

The LastPass Browser Experience
When you use LastPass in a desktop browser, the service prompts you to save any new logins or accounts with LastPass. Furthermore, you'll find simple dropdown menus in your toolbar that make it even faster to grab data from various saved forms to complete online forms.

No such luxuries in the app. LastPass for Android lacks all the convenient prompts of its desktop sibling, and you're forced to use an impossibly clunky built-in browser to experience LastPass' auto-filling and login saving.

The LastPass browser is only accessible from within the password-protected app. It's tedious to use unless you're working in a tablet that's hooked up to a keyboard (in other words, a laptop). You tap into your Vault to launch saved websites with saved login information. You tap a couple times to enter a new website, and tap again to fill out a form that saves your login information.

Auto-filling only worked sporadically. The browser doesn't support Flash or geolocation services. Furthermore some mobile sites, like banking sites, don't even let you auto-fill information. I couldn't use this with my Chase account, for instance. It's just the way banks code their mobile websites, and you'll encounter the same problem in your stock browser. The safest workaround is to download your bank's app and use LastPass to log in.

Lastly, LastPass forces you to log in every time you want to use the app, and hence, the browser. I understand the security reasons behind this, and I know it's just one extra tap, or more if you didn't save your master password, but on a mobile device these extra taps feels like running extra miles. LastPass also offered a free plugin for third-party browsers like Dolphin HD and Firefox Mobile, although they're as tedious to use as the browser.

Needs Another Pass
LastPass for Android is a decent app for the security conscious, and you can't beat free, but at the moment it's far too unintuitive for the average user. This isn't reason enough to upgrade to Premium?yet. It isn't intuitive, and it lacks the awesome bells and whistles that make the desktop-based service an Editors' Choice for both free and paid password managers. LastPass will need to rethink its mobile app before it loses out to young, innovative players like Dashlane. mSecure Password Manager ($19.95/year, 2 stars) also offers an Android app for an additional $9.99, though I haven't yet tested it. RoboForm, 1Password. KeyPass, and others also provide mobile password managers.

Important Tips When Choosing an Eye Doctor

Eyes are a very vital organ for all of us and hence demands special care. With eye and vision related problems on the rise, it is estimated that by 2020 more than five and a half million American adults (of age 40 and above) will be suffering from visual impairment and blindness. Hence, the onus is upon us to take good care of our eyes and get them checked periodically by an eye specialist. Apart from the normal vision problems like myopia, hypermetropia, astigmatism, cataract etc, there can be several other diseases of our organ of vision like dry eye, glaucoma, corneal ulcer etc, which needs specialized treatment. Hence, you need the services of a good, reputed and experienced ophthalmologist to take proper care of your eyes.

When you are looking for a new eye doctor Las Vegas, the first place to look for would be the internet.

All reputed eye care clinics have an online presence in the form of a website or as part of blogs. In addition to the contact details, you can also see what the patients have to say about a particular clinic or a particular doctor. Testimonials from patients are a good measure to judge a doctor?s competence and expertise. You should always see to it that the doctor is well qualified, that is, with a degree of M.D for ophthalmologists and D.O (Doctor of Optometry) for optometrists. The difference between the two is that an optometrist is qualified to diagnose and provide medicinal treatment for simpler optical conditions and can also prescribe spectacles. An ophthalmologist, on the other hand, is specialized to treat more complex problems of the eye and also perform surgical procedure.

So, depending upon your condition, you need to choose between an optometrist and an ophthalmologist. Whatever your need be, make sure that apart from the necessary qualifications, the eye doctor Las Vegas also has enough experience in terms of number of years in practice to be sure that he will be the best person to handle and treat your situation. Another important thing to settle before you go in for the treatment is to confirm that the treatment at the clinic where the doctor practices will be covered by your insurance policy. This is to prevent such situations later where you are left with a hefty amount to pay as the doctor fees and no insurance coverage to take care of the expenses.

Before choosing your eye doctor Las Vegas you should seek an initial consultation session, which most doctors would provide free of cost. This session would be the best opportunity for you to get to know your doctor and the staff better. You should look for well trained and friendly staff who will be comfortable in communicating with you and vice versa. Inquire about the equipments and facilities available at the clinic or the hospital where the doctor practices and see to it that he adheres to the standard procedures and guidelines.

A good eye doctor Las Vegas is a valuable find and you should devote some quality time to find one in your locality.

Samsung UN60ES6500F

The Samsung UN46ES6500F ($1,729.99 list) is a smart-looking 46-inch HDTV with 3D capabilities, loads of interactive web services, and built-in Wi-Fi. It delivers very accurate colors and a crisp, clean HD picture, but the LED backlit panel could be brighter. You won't get dark inky blacks with this model either, and it only has three HDMI ports. However, it does offers some neat features, including two sets of active shutter 3D glasses and Samsung's Smart Hub menu system that makes it easy to launch apps, play multimedia files and movies, surf the web, and connect to other devices.

Editors' Note: This review is based on tests performed on the Samsung UN46ES6500F, the 46-inch model in the same series. Besides the screen size difference, the 60-inch $3,179.99 UN60ES6500F is identical in features, and while we didn't perform lab tests on this specific model, we expect similar performance.

Design and Features
Style-wise, the UN46ES6500F is easy on the eyes. The panel, which actually measures 45.9 inches, is framed by an ultra-slim (0.5-inch) matte black bezel and sits in a slender 1.25 inch cabinet (the bottom juts out to 1.9 inches to accommodate the down-firing speakers). The bezels are decorated with beveled clear trim, giving the set a pleasing angular look. A shiny Samsung badge protrudes downward from the center of the bottom bezel. The sturdy four-legged stand is piano black and can swivel smoothly.

Two USB ports and one HDMI port are vertically positioned at the rear of the cabinet and facing right. Two additional HDMI ports and one more USB port are flush mounted along with digital audio in and out connections, an optical audio output, shared component and composite AV jacks, a TV cable/antenna jack, a LAN port, and an EX-Link (serial) port. While most HDTVs this size offer four HDMI ports, the UN46ES6500F only gives you three, which can be a problem if you have a set top box, a Blu-ray player, and more than one gaming console.?

There are no function buttons on the UN46ES6500F. Instead, there's a small joystick control mounted on the lower right side of the back panel that lets you access and navigate the various menu pages. It's easier to use the remote to adjust settings and launch apps. The 9-inch wand is backlit and has all the usual player, volume, and channel controls. The number buttons are a tad small and the backlighting is slightly dim, but the remote is lightweight and fits comfortably in the hand. In the center of the remote is a colorful Smart Hub key.

Samsung's Smart Hub provides a single point of access for launching Web apps, streaming content from the Web and compatible DLNA devices over an Ethernet connection or the UN46ES6500F's built-in Wi-Fi, playing movies, and accessing USB based content. The icon-driven menu is colorful and easy to navigate. It includes the cloud-based Family Story app, which lets families share photos and videos and schedule events, an interactive Fitness app for body sculpting, fat burning, and weight monitoring, and a Kids portal featuring several?Canimals?episodes, WordWorld, and other kid oriented apps.

Samsung's Web app catalog is extensive, offering more than 70 information channels including Save Our Planet, The History Of America, and Home Safety. Streaming movie apps include Netflix, Hulu Plus, Vudu, CinemaNow, and Blockbuster, and there are over 90 free and paid games available. Education services include Today In History, the Periodic Tables, and Guitar Chords, and you get about a dozen sports apps including MLB, NBA, and ESPN. You can also access most social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Picasa) and surf the Web with the built-in browser.

The UN46ES6500F provides plenty of picture settings to help you get the best possible picture for your lighting environment. There are four picture modes (Standard, Dynamic, Movie, and Natural) with optimized settings for their respective function. Movie mode offers the best all-around picture, especially if you're in a dimly lit room. You get all the basic settings, including backlight, brightness, contrast, sharpness, color, and tint controls, as well as a handful of advanced settings such as 10-point white balance, gamma, flesh tone, black tone, and dynamic contrast ratio. Picture options include AutoMotion Plus with judder and blur reduction for eliminating motion artifacts, film mode (for content shot at 24 fps), and LED Motion Plus, which uses backlight strobe to help reduce motion blur.

Performance
The UN46ES6500F's performance was a mixed bag. While seated at dead center it provided a realistic 3D picture with very little crosstalk while watching?Sharks 3D. Crosstalk was more prominent when seated at an extreme angle but the 3D effect was still enjoyable. The set comes with two pairs of lightweight active shutter glasses which are fairly comfortable but not very stylish. They also let too much light in from the sides.

Using images from the DisplayMate suite of HDTV diagnostic tests, a Chroma Meter, and SpectraCal's Calman software, the panel produced a peak brightness reading of 101.81 cd/m2?after a basic darkroom calibration. That's not very bright for an LED backlit HDTV, especially when compared to other LED sets like the?Vizio M3D550KD ($1,429.99, 4 stars) (364.75 cd/m2) and LG 55LM6700 ($2,299.99, 4 stars) (256.68 cd/m2). Moreover, the UN46ES6500F's black level (0.06 cd/m2) can't touch that of the Vizio (0.02 cd/m2) or the LG (0.03 cd/m2), and its measured contrast ratio of 1696:1 is mediocre at best.

On the plus side the UN46ES6500F delivers very accurate colors out of the box, as shown in the CIE Chromaticity Chart below (the red, green, and blue boxes represent the CIE standard for each color and the circles represent the panel's actual reading). It also has a wide off-angle viewing range; there was hardly any color shifting when viewed from an extreme side angle and the panel did not lose luminance.

Scenes from?Piranha?on Blu-ray were crisp with natural looking skin tones, but shadow detail suffered a bit as a result of the panel's inability to display dark blacks, and you don't get the kind of punchy picture that you get from a panel with a high contrast ratio. Still, the UN46ES6500F delivers a very sharp, noise-free picture.

The UN46ES6500F is easy on power but not quite as eco-friendly as the larger LG 55LM6700. During my testing it used 93 watts of power with power saving disabled and 53 watts with power saving set to low, while the LG used 67 watts and 48 watts, respectively. You can cut the UN46ES6500F's power consumption even more by setting power saving to medium (41 watts) or high (28 watts), but both settings are much too dim.

Conclusion
The Samsung UN46ES6500F is a capable 46-inch HDTV that is tastefully designed and offers a nice feature set, including two sets of 3D glasses, lots of interactive apps, and a cloud-based family portal. Its color quality is top notch, but its peak brightness and black level performance hold it back. All told, you'll get better performance from our recent budget Editors' Choice, the Vizio M3D550KD, and you'll get more screen and save a few hundred dollars while you're at it.

(AP) ? Thousands cheering for Chelsea star Didier Drogba have mobbed the Olympic torch relay route in southwest England, hoping to get a glimpse of the Ivory Coast striker as he carried the flame.

Many fans, some wearing Chelsea blue jerseys, cheered as their soccer (football) hero ran through the center of Swindon on Wednesday. The 34-year-old waved as he trotted along with the torch.

Drogba announced on Tuesday that he was quitting Chelsea, just days after scoring the winning penalty shot in the club's dramatic Champion's League final win over Bayern Munich. He is pursuing a career elsewhere.

"I think winning the game was the key. Not me scoring the penalty," he told the BBC. "Winning the game was the turning point. That's why I have decided to say goodbye."

The British media have reported that Drogba's next move will take him to China, but he hasn't confirmed that.

"I hope everyone will understand," Drogba said. "Everything I did was for the fans, and I hope they understand."

Sexism In The Venture Business? Sequoia?s Greg McAdoo Says VC Industry Is A ?Meritocracy?

IMG_9347Just a day after a gender discrimination suit was filed against one of Silicon Valley's most storied firms Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, an all-male panel of VCs at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference said that sexism isn't that much of an issue in the industry. "This business is a meritocracy by and large," said Greg McAdoo, who is a partner at Sequoia Capital, noting that the firm has female partners. "I have no doubt that there are pockets of issues, because in humanity you're going to have that." He added, "We look for folks who can help companies become great businesses over time and we don't ask a lot of questions about gender or what have you."

Dancing droplets reveal physics at work

Magnetic fields can deflect liquid oxygen

Web edition : 12:27 pm

View the video

Throw water into a hot pan, and it will sizzle so fast that the drops actually levitate across the surface. Physicists have now taken this phenomenon, called the Leidenfrost effect, a step further: Using magnets, the scientists directed droplets of liquid oxygen to speed up, slow down and change course as they scoot across a sheet of glass.

Magnetic fields force the tiny blobs to travel in a mesmerizing dance, says David Qu?r?, a physicist at ESPCI Paris Institute of Technology in France. He and his colleagues describe the work in an upcoming Physical Review E.

Leidenfrost drops form when a drop hits a surface much hotter than the liquid?s boiling temperature. The liquid evaporates so quickly that the droplet starts to float on its own vapor, cushioned from below. This insulating layer also reduces friction between the droplet and the surface. Given a push, a droplet 1 millimeter across can slide for several meters before finally slowing down and stopping.

?There are some interesting questions about these frictionless systems,? Qu?r? says. So he decided to look at how magnetic fields might influence this bizarre motion. He chose to study oxygen because it boils at such a low temperature that it naturally forms Leidenfrost drops at room temperature. In its liquid form, oxygen is also paramagnetic, meaning that it is attracted to the poles of a magnet.

The scientists threw oxygen droplets onto a sheet of glass, beneath which lay a small circular magnet. Depending on the angle at which the drop approached the magnet, the drop either got deflected away or swooped partway around the magnet like a comet swinging past Jupiter. Occasionally, the magnet?s field captured a droplet into a permanent orbit. ?You can hang these drops on the ceiling if the magnet is strong enough,? Qu?r? says.

Friction between the drops and the surface changes as the droplets change shape, he adds ? allowing scientists to better explore the forces that control friction.

The Leidenfrost effect occurs in many industrial processes that involve liquid droplets and hot surfaces, and so physicists have long wanted to better understand and control it, says Tuan Tran, a physicist at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. In 2006, scientists reported using a textured surface to dictate the way drops moved. The new work using magnets, Tran says, ?could be seen as a second cornerstone in controlling Leidenfrost droplets.?

The team is now investigating how water drops containing magnetic-sensitive particles behave in the same situation, which may open the door to more practical applications.

An oxygen droplet floating on its vapor (approaching from left at 12 centimeters per second) can be deflected by a small magnet (moving from bottom center at 7 centimeters per second) held beneath a sheet of glass. Such movies reveal the elusive behavior of droplets subject to what?s known as the Leidenfrost effect.

(AP) ? The Olympic torch was passed to London ? witnessed, appropriately, by hundreds of Greeks huddled under umbrellas.

Seeking some relief from the country's economic and political woes, Greeks sat on the stone steps of the ancient stadium in Athens on Thursday to watch the ceremonial handover of the Olympic flame to the organizers of the 2012 London Olympics.

They cheered the Greek national anthem. They cheered 88 schoolchildren belting out "God save the Queen. They went nuts when U.K. soccer star David Beckham was announced.

But they really roared when they saw the fire.

"The flame belongs to the world," London Olympic chairman Sebastian Coe said. "The arrival of the flame in the host nation is a clarion call to the athletes and young people in more than 200 nations and territories preparing to gather for the London 2012 Games."

There were jokes about the pouring rain ? more London than Athens surely ? with London Mayor Boris Johnson joshing that everyone would just have to get used to it. But the clouds actually pushed back for a few short minutes, giving the robed dancers, the drummers and the decorative Greek guards a chance to parade around, pompom shoes bouncing.

The flame was passed. No soaked cauldron.

"Once the flame is lit, for all intents and purposes, the Games start," Coe told reporters.

The flame was lit last week at the Temple of Hera in Olympia, and has been making its way around Greece in a relay. Despite a political crisis, a financial debacle and the unusual weather, Greeks were heartened by their eternal link to the Olympics.

"I am Greek and I am proud to be Greek," said Konstantina Giannpoulos, 27, a drenched physical education teacher who clutched a plastic blue-and-white Greek flag. "I want to honor my country."

Beckham headlined the U.K. dignitaries attending the twilight ceremony and there was a hearty guffaw among Britons as he was introduced ? incorrectly ? as "Sir David." He is not a knight.

Princess Anne, a former British Olympic equestrian, took possession of the fire.

"The eyes of the world are swiveling to London," Johnson said with delight.

The handover also marked a poignant moment for Greece as well. Greeks like to point out that the Olympics ? while terrific ? were not the only enduring concept they dreamed up.

Dominique Molin, a 52-year-old former French teacher who ventured out to see Princess Anne tour a center where horses are used to help disabled children, noted that Europe absorbed many ideas championed by the ancient Greeks ? like democracy ? to say nothing of honoring its art and culture.

And even despite their economic hardships, the majority of Greeks in a recent poll say they want to stay in the 17-nation eurozone.

"We belong to Europe," Molin said. "We want to be part of it."

She thought the torch relay helped the country's battered image.

"It shows that there are things still working here," she said.

The flame will fly Friday ? with its own seat and security agent ? on British Airways Flight 2012, an Airbus painted gold at the nose. Shielded in a miner's lantern, the flame will first land at a naval air station in Cornwall, before the Royal Navy flies it to Land's End, the furthest point west in England.

Once in Britain, the Olympic torch heads off Saturday a 70-day relay ? an Anglophile's dream tour that ventures through hill and dale to embrace everything from cool Britannia to Stonehenge. The journey ends at London's Olympic Stadium for the July 27 opening ceremony.

Some 8,000 torchbearers will carry the fire, mostly local people who have worked to better their communities. Olympic organizers hope that by giving the torch to community heroes, they will bring the spirit of the games to a country not necessarily willing to receive it.

The London Olympics has cost 9.3 billion pounds ($14.6 billion) ? a large sum for a country grappling with economic austerity ? and some in Britain worry about what happens when the games end Aug. 12. The future of the massive Olympic stadium, in particular, remains in doubt.

Coe acknowledges there are still many tasks to conquer and questions to resolve. He says the choice of the final torchbearer hasn't even been discussed yet.

But there is one person you can cross off that list. Coe, a former gold medalist, says it won't be him.

ASUS Zenbook UX32VD unveiled, packs discrete graphics to flaunt that 1080p screen

New high-resolution Zenbooks are on their way, but ASUS has now revealed another addition that's packing its own discrete graphics. Like its recently unveiled siblings, the Zenbook UX32VD still packs a 1920 x 1080 IPS panel and "the latest Intel Core processor" -- likely something from the Ivy Bridge family, although ASUS is keeping schtum on the details for now. Graphical horsepower is delegated to NVIDIA's GT620, while the UX32VD also had a hybrid HDD on show at the event, not the standard SSD -- explaining why this new model is slightly thicker than the UX31A. Alongside a lack of processor specifics, there was no info on prices or release dates at the Taiwan press event but for now, Engadget Chinese have posted their full impressions at the source below. Ultrabook and graphics mavens can hit up the Google translation for a few more details.
